Andrew R Pearson was born in Worland, Wyoming on October 5, 1975 to parents Ron and Sue. Drew graduated from CM Russell High School in Billings, Montana. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the Army and served for three years prior to earning an appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point. Drew graduated from West Point in 2001 and married his wife, Jonnarie Pearson, on June 16, 2001.
Drew completed the Officer Infantry Basic Course and Ranger Course at Fort Benning, Georgia before his first assignment at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii where he served with Infantry Battalion 2-5. Upon his return from his first deployment to Afghanistan, he attended the Armor Captain Career Course at Fort Knox, Kentucky. Drew was then assigned to Fort Hood, Texas where he deployed with the 1-10 Cavalry Unit to Iraq.
After his return to Iraq, he was assigned to HHC and later deployed with his unit to Iraq. On April 30, 2008, Army Infantry Officer, Captain Drew Pearson, was killed in action as the result of his vehicle being struck by an improvised explosive device at the age of 32. Drew was serving his third deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas as Company Commander of HHC.
Captain Pearson’s awards and decorations include Purple Heart, Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Air Assault Badge, Combat Infantry Badge, Expert Infantry Badge, Parachutist Badge, and Ranger Tab.
